Connecting Compaq 2010c to PC while connected to the net

I'm trying to connect my win ce h/pc to my PC thru the serial port while my computer is on the net, however that isn't working. I'm sure I seen a website with the details of how to correct this, but I forgot to put it in my favourites and I can't find it.
Does anyone know how to get this to work or alternativly where that web page is?

Download the latest Activesync and try using the Internet
pass-through in the OPTIONS/RULES tab.

If not, set up a proxy server on your desktop and reroute your
desktops IP to the PDA.
