I have a friend who uses a 6210 with a Revo for e-mail and SMS - works just fine. Might be able to help you with settings if you let us know exactly what you're trying to do, and what the problem is.

Thank you for your reply.
I want to browse on the internet as well as send/receive email. I think that my settings are correct but everytime I want to access to the Internet or send an email, I got this message "Interrupted application; application: SocketServer; code: KERN-EXEC; Number: 3.
What does it mean? How can I correct that?
Thank yopu for your help.

Hmm, this is not pretty.

I suggest that you first do a complete backup and then hard reset your Psion and restore. If this doesn't fix it, delete all your Modem and Internet entries from Conrtol Panel and re-enter just the ones you actually use.

Post back on this thread if this doesn't solve your problem.

So, are you actually getting connected OK, and then it crashes? Or does it not even make the connection? Using Web or Opera?

The latest version of Opera (5.14) is about the best bet, in my experience. It can crash if it doesn't have enough memory to work with though, so worth closing down all other apps to give it the best chance. If you are using Opera, it's best installed on a CF in Drive D, to leave you with more operating space on Internal.

Come back with more info and we'll see what we can do. It *should* work!

1) Make sure you have the correct settings:

------------------
Name - Nokia
Speed - 57600
Connect - Infrared
Fax Class - Auto
------------------
Init (reset) - AT&F&K4
Data - (blank)
Fax - (blank)
------------------
Flow - Software (Xon/Xoff)
Terminal (DSR/DTR) [ ] not checked
Carrier (DCD) [ ] not checked
Type - Mobile

2) With a 5mx and MC218 only, you should install the "Mobile Connectivity Update" which you can download from the "Series 5(mx)" page of my website.

3) You might find it useful to install John McAleely's little program
"The Dialer". This lets you connect to the internet independently
from any particular application, a bit like Dial Up Networking on
a PC. It will also confirm that a connection has been established
before trying to use an internet application such as Web, Email,
Opera, RMRNews etc. One thing though if you do decide to use it,
make sure that in "Control Panel / Internet" you have a time
entered in the box "On exit, stay online for..." which is
sufficient to allow you to open an internet application (or in
the case of Email, open a mailbox), otherwise the connection will
drop immediately. The Dialer can be downloaded from the
"Series 5(mx)" page of my website or there is a link to John's
site for more information.

4) If you create the file path C:\Logs\Etel\ there will be a GSMTSY.txt file in the Etel folder after your next connection attempt which might give an indication of any problem.

I might find that very useful, too, Mike. Thanks for the tip!

I use Web and I think I have a problem with this software. I made a hard reset but nothing is changed: everytime I open Web (even without IR connection with the Nokia) I get the message of error that I have already described. Should I use "Opera" instead of Web. Where can I download/buy it? Thanks for your help.

you can get Opera from.... www.opera.com!

Look for Opera for EPOC - its not free but its quite cheap, and it is infinitely better than Web.

So is web the only program you get this error with? Do you not use the Email application?

You might fix Web by clearing its cache. If there's not an option on the menubar to do this, then have a browse into your C:\System folder (maybe inside Apps\Web) and see if you can find the Cache folder and manually delete its contents.

C:\System\Wtldata\

Just delete all the files in the Wtldata folder and they will be created again next time the application is used.

Thank you very much for your help. I found something strange: I could not find Web in the System/Apps folder... Or is it Browser? In any case, I will purchase Opera immediately.

I have downlloaded Opera and I have still the same problem when I want to access to a URL: I got a message telling that the application is interrupted; this application is "SocketServer" (?), the code is "KERN-EXEC" and the number "3". Then there is a button "Continue" and if I click, I get out of Opera. This is the same with "Email". There I got a final message: "Application not supported". Could you give me an indication on the origin of this problem.
Thanks a lot for your very kind support.

I suspect you have some file corruption somewhere. I would suggest you delete your 6210 settings and your ISP settings from Control Panel, perform a soft reset and set everything up again.

I assume you have installed the "Mobile Connectivity Update" because this is required. Also you settings should be as per my earlier message.

If you had installed "The Dialer" you would know that you had a good internet connection running before trying to use Email, Web or Opera. This is why I suggested it.

I regularly used a 5MX with a 6210 - and now a 6310. I have very few problems but occasionally I have found it very helpful to:

a) Keep trying
b) Check that signal strength is ok.
c) Switch the phone off and on again.

I suspect that many of the problems experienced by users of 6210 and 6310 phones are down to 'buggy' firmware versions. I seem to recall reading that some of the earlier 6210 versions were actually better than the latest, as far as Psion connectivity is concerned.

Thanks to all for your advices and your help. I have succeeded and my Psion is working with my Nokia.
Psion 5mx is still a wonderful tool.
