zire beaming problem

I got my 10 year old daughter a Zire for Christmas and she loves it. But I am having trouble beaming to or from it with my palm.

We have not installed any software on the PC yet . Could that be a problem, no initial hotsync?

Go to the prefs screen, then general, then make sure the beam recieve is on.

I already checked that. I was wondering if there was somehting I was missing.

Does the IR work without an initial hotsync?

Does the hotsync set-up have anything to do with the IR feature?

Or do I need a new one?

if the beam reciver is on, then it should work, but try installing the program on your pc. if that doesn't work then i would return it

Oh, one more thing. Make sure they are At Least 5 inches apart.
And no farther than 4 feet apart.
