Does anybody knows a GOOD SREEN PROTECTOR? gamoooos 01-09-2003, 10:08 AM I actually am not familiar with any screen protectors for the dell, but make sure the one you buy is NOT the kind that sticks to the screen. There is a kind that just overlays on the screen, which is the one you should be looking for. fastback66 01-09-2003, 10:10 AM THANK YOU for the advised.:D Hibiki 01-09-2003, 01:16 PM whats wrong with it sticking? Hank3rd 01-09-2003, 01:40 PM I am using a protector from a Jornada 525 and it fits perfectly. I have used this kind (the sticky kind) on my Jornada for a while and there were no reprecussions, so I do not seem to see any danger in using it on the Dell. I think that this protector is better than none. gamoooos 01-09-2003, 02:14 PM The problem with the sticky kind, is that unless you know of a great brand, they tend to leave the sticky stuff when you remove it off the screen. fastback66 01-09-2003, 02:23 PM Which brand is good or great? hyppo 01-10-2003, 12:45 AM the sticky ones don't leave glue on the screen. I don't think any company would make a cent if the screen protector left sticky stuff. But hey, I haven't tried every brand in the world, just the ones available at the computer store. Hibiki 01-10-2003, 03:28 AM I thought the sticky ones use a very light adhesive or stick by static, sorta like those things u stick on car windows at the dealership AximMan 01-26-2003, 07:54 PM Originally posted by fastback66 I have scratched sreen already. I need a good screen protector? Does anybody knows a GOOD SREEN PROTECTOR? I have tried basically every screen protector out there: nushield, G2, companionlink, brando, writeright, belkin, etc. I have sorted them out into 3 categories: 1. Sticky Adhesive using glue: -WriteRight -Belkin -Companionlink The major disadvantage of using glue is that it leaves a damaging residue on the screen and it clouds the screen. 2. Ones that "float" on the screen and do not use adhesive. -NuShield -G2 These stay onto the screen by fitting into the groves on the sides of the PDA. There is one disadvantage and that is "newton rings." These rings are formed by two smooth surfaces comming into close contact. (you can get more info from an encyclopedia). They look like rainbow swirls and disdort the image on the screen. 3. The third category uses a "static cling" technology. -Brando -ClearGuard These are the best I have tried. They do use glue and do not disdort the screen. Here are the links: Brando: http://shop.brando.com.hk/ ClearGuard: http://www.newtonelectronics.com/pd...nprotectors.htm I have found ClearGuard to be MUCH cheaper than its counterpart. But it's up to you to decide. Peace AximMan fastback66 01-26-2003, 08:19 PM Thank you for that info. is really helpfull. I will try Both. One more time GRACIAS. Pease. AximMan 01-26-2003, 08:22 PM Link doesn't work. Here: www.newtonelectronics.com squirreler 01-26-2003, 10:26 PM The fellowes WriteRight protector for the HP Jornada fits the Dell nicely. grab them while they're still around fastback66 01-27-2003, 08:45 AM Am using WriteRight protectors for HP I like them. Am looking for more options. Davo 02-03-2003, 02:17 PM Originally posted by AximMan Link doesn't work. Here: www.newtonelectronics.com Ordered and received Clear Guard protectors. They'll do, but I really don't like them. The surface is a bit rubbery, and causes some drag on the stylus. FKHCLE 02-03-2003, 04:27 PM I got some from Dell. They are the floating type and they seem to work well. Although they move around a lot and the first one developed was replaced after two weeks because of scratching. I am now onto the WriteSHIELD from www.pocketpctechs.com. They sell a kit (expensive) with cleaner, cloths, etc and the screen protectors. I put one and it is lovely. There is a little friction with the stylus, but just enough that it reminds you are doing something. They even send along little toothpick things for lifting the protectors up in case you should need to clean the screen (lint etc when installing). Possum 02-03-2003, 09:13 PM have tried WriteRites and they stink. Only last a month and cause major distortion of what you see on the screen. Also not so nice to write on. Got the Writeshields a month ago. Applied it easily and without a bunch of lint and stuff under the protector. The instructions suggest you take very deliberate steps to install them but I did it at a restaurant. They also recommend a good cleaner and cloths, they sell them too. Great stuff Anyway, I have had my Writeshield on for a month which is about how long the WriteRights last and it is looking and working like the day I put it on. They say that they can be taken off and cleaned if junk gets underneath them. In my opinion these are the best even though they stick to the screen. I suggest that you invest in this screen protector simply because if you have to replace the screen you are really talking big bucks. Give them a shot, hey its only money you would most likely waste somewhere else. PDA Street
