 I have never, ever, ever seen software as terribly made as ActiveSync! What's wrong with it, you say?
1) Overly sensitive detection of new Pocket Pc - but only when you don't want it to.
Even something as simple as plugging the cradle into a different USB port will confuse ActiveSync and make it think it's a different machine.
On the other hand, you have to jump through no less than 14,265,321 hoops to get it to connect when you DO have a new machine. UGH!
2) Where did my backup file go!!!
I backed up my e740's memory before I sent it off to be repaired. now, after searching my ENTIRE f***ing HARD DRIVE my backup file is absolutely no where to be found.
3) No support for Outlook Express or even POP3.
My dad uses Outlook. Outlook evidently only supports one account per computer. What the heck am I supposed to do!?!
4) Can't be closed without using Task Manager.
This is the only way to close it: Press Ctrl-Alt-Del. Flip to processes. Right-click the Activesync program and choose end process.
Do they make it even that simple? No! It's called something that starts with WCESManager. A far more accurate name would be something like WCESThisProgramSucksMyCENSOREDCENSOREDCENSORED.exe .
That one felt good. :D
5) It's trying to sync my tasks, then Outlook tells me Windows was upgraded from 95 or 98 to XP and it has to be re-installed.
!?!?!?!
My computer NEVER had 95 or 98. This (plus the second part of #3) has let me to conclude Outlook also blows.
6) It lets me know of all my mom's appointments - this is on the computer, mind you, not the PDA screen - at once... all many hours overdue. WHAT'S THE !#@%@! POINT!!!
Boy, did that feel good.:p
Now to the point of the rant - is there a replacement for the dang thing!?!
