after you are done downloading it, unzip it (i think it's zipped, I forget) and then run the setup. Make sure your Axim is connected to your pc and follow the setup instructions. To remove the patch, go to "remove programs" and remove the "dell enable 5th button" patch.

there is no setup instructions.... that's why I asked. The program in an ".exe" file. Once you click it, it creates a file C:\dell\drivers\R54079. In that file, it puts a zipped file called AximX5, a configuration file called AximX5, and a Setup icon. When I click on the setup icon, i get a window that pops up and does nothing. I am attaching a pic of the window. Is there anyone that knows whats wrong?

make sure that your axim is in the cradle when you start it. That screen there verifies that it has been installed I think.

ChrizzaiN:
I just loaded it today (thanks to this great board). The screen shot you attached is correct. It is just a way of telling people how to check to see if they previously loaded it. Click on ok to proceed and it will install it for you. Worked like a charm!

Then I believe that I have a bad file. I downloaded it several times from Dell.com, but it does not seem to work. Is there anyone that is willing to transfer me the file?. please email me.

Ok... I finially got it to install. Here's what I had to do. First of all, I am not the only one with this problem. If you cannot get this patch installed, keep reading. For some people, the program will not install automatically. Once you click on R54079.exe, it will unzip to C:\dell\drivers\R54079. Go to that file and transfer the AximX5.cab (looks like a zip file) to your Axim. Open file explorer and locate the AximX5.cab file and click on it. It will install and soft reset your system.

Thanks for all the great info...but,
how do I check to see if the patch was loaded successfully? I've downloaded twice but am unsure if it works.
Any suggestions?
Thanks in advance.
