I have an Apollo 56k PC card but am unable to get it to work with the netbook. Anybody able to shed any light on this?

I know someone else who has been unable to get an Apollo PCMCIA modem to work with a netBook.
He actually sent the modem to me and I got it working with my 5mx and "Psion PC Card Adaptor" but he just can't get it to work with his netBook.
If anyone has a solution I'll gladly pass it on :)
