Hot sync says my axim and pc are synced, but the contacts are not transferring from my axim to the pc. I used the complimentary copy of outlook 2000 that came w/the dell because I only had office 97 on my pc. Am I doing anything wrong? Any ideas? Any help would be totally cool.

Prior to syncing, did you ensure that your upgraded Outlook 2000 has all the contacts from your Outlook 97? And is Outlook 2000 the default contact manager for your PC? And is Activesync set up to sync with Outlook 2000 and not Outlook97?
Just some ideas. Be sure to post the solution. Good luck!

Here's the deal... I formatted the hard drive on my notebook and reinstalled everything, including Office 97. Then the Axim came and I discovered that it needed office 98 or newer, and Dell sent a complimentary copy of Outlook 2000, so I installed it. Then, I inputted a ton of contact info into the Axim to later transfer to outlook. When I synced up later, all was fine, except when I opened outlook to retreive some contact info, there was nothing there. I searched for a different outlook on the pc, but I only found the 2000 version. The dell is sending the info somewhere and the pc is accepting it or else there would be an error. Any suggestions?

Hmm. I'll think about this.
My first reaction is to emphasize that a PDA is a utility but it is secondary to a PC. Data on a PC is easily backed up, thus is not at much risk. But data entered into a PDA should be considered vulnerable until it is backed up onto your PC. For this reason, I strongly encourage people to enter the majority of their data (calendar, contacts, etc) into the PC first, and then sync that with (to) the PDA.
I'm sure someone here can come up with a solution for you. We'll all keep working on it.
