I upgraded my PalmV to Desktop 4.0.1 on my Win98 system. It all worked fine.

I then upgraded the HotSync thingie to 3.1.1 and now I'm getting "The INSTAPP.EXE file is linked to missing export USERDATA.DLL:154" when I try to install from the desktop to the Palm.

Somebody suggested that the UserData.dll was corrupt so I deleted it and reinstalled the HotSync upgrade to replace it but still have the same problem.

Instapp.exe is version 4.0.0 and UserData.dll is version 3.5.1

If anyone has got any solutions (or even how to undo the Hotsync upgrade) then I would be very grateful.

Update......

After ashort but exhausting search, I found (I think) my solution:

tjfund (you're a star TJ!) suggests downloading the Palm "conduit developers kit" (all 45 MB of it!), installing it and then navigating to CDK403/Common/Bin to find the good version of the UserData.dll file (dated May 10 2002 at 4:10 pm, size 126,976 bytes) that resides there. Copying this to the main Palm directory gives you a UserData.dll of version 4.0.0.1 which works.

Now just got to uninstall 45MB of kit I don't want!

Why couldn't Palm spot this?
