Hi All, heres my problem. In my organization all the VPs will be given Pocket PCs. They are used to sync emergency procedures from a shared network forlder. This part is working. But as we all know Pocket Word isn't the greatest for viewing docs created with Word and converted.
So what I'm doing now is keeping 2 folders, one that people can view from their desktops which looks fine in Word 2K and the other which activesync syncs to the PDA which has no images or advanced formating and 4" margins.
What I wondering is if anyone has found a way to strip all the advanced formatting from a word doc and have it look right on a PDA screen. Any help would be appriciated.

Have you thought about utilizing adobe? That way you only have one word document then when revisions are made you can print it to Adobe in the sync folder you have created.

Hi, thanks for your reply. I did try acrobat but there was a lot of scrolling involved. I actually just tried MS reader and converted all the Word 2K docs to ebooks....what a great program. They are perfectly sized ect..
Thanks

Brian_S,
How did you convert a word document to MS Reader format? I have been putting everything to pdf and would like to try MS Reader. Did your documents have any charts or graphs and if so how did they look in Reader after the conversion?
Thanks

Hi, you can get the converter that plugs into Word from the MS reader website....its free. The documents did'nt have any grphics but it will handle them. Try it out and let me know how you make out.
Thanks

Brian_S,
That is definatly the way to go! It is so much better than pdf viewing and handles charts fairly well, but not great. One thing that I noticed is the size of the .lit file, it looks like the conversion takes up almost twice the size of a pdf. I'm not 100% on that - haven't tried converting the same doc into the 2 formats to be sure. But if you have a large enough storage card that should never be an issue.

Yeah...the file size does change a bit. I assume due in part to the cover graphic ect.. All and all Reader does a very nice job converting.

Glad you found it. I've been using it for some tech documents on ergonomics that I carry in my Jornada 548. Makes a great free resource, although it does do funky things to tabs and margins sometimes.
