Hello everyone, it's been some time since I've posted on this forum. I suppose it's because everything iQue related has been working perfectly! I just moved to New Zealand from Canada, so I purchased the Mapsource New Zealand V2 maps and installed them without incidence. I live in the Tauranga, New Zealand area of the North Island and although the maps seem detailed and I can find street addresses just fine, when I map the route, Betty doesn't use street names to guide me and the purple route marker just seems to make a straight line from where I am to my destination without following streets! Betty's voice guidance is reduced to "drive 1.5 km northwest then arrive at destination". Has anyone else come across a similar problem? I have great access to satellites (usually 6 or 8 and WAAS is enabled. I'm using the car / motorcycle setting and have tried both shortest and fastest routes.
Maybee,
Your using MetroGuide?
You haven't transferred the 'route calculation data?
You haven't activated the detailed mapping and it is using BaseMap?

Thanks for looking Strumble, the detailed maps are turned on and routing is set to shorter distance (not offroad). Perhaps a clean install to the iQue would fix the problem? Any other suggestions?

Sorry, just had another thought. Is it possible to install only the detailed maps without transferring the route calculation data? How do I check if this is so?

Hi again Strumble, I tried to fix the problem by reinstalling the North Island NZ maps and noticed after selecting the map sections to transfer, that the "Include route calculation data" checkbox was greyed out. This must be the issue, but I haven't been able to find a way to select it. I've updated to the latest version of Mapsource and still can't select the checkbox. Anyone got any ideas?
The most up to date Garmin software is:-
City Navigator New Zealand v3, so if you bought v2 you should ask for the v3 'free'.
CityNavigator usually does not have the option for transferring route data, it is automatic so it will be greyed out!
What operating system are you using on the PC?
What MaPsource version are you using?

Thanks for persevering Strumble. I've purchased MetroGuide NZV2, not City Navigator. I'm using Windows Media Center Edition and I downloaded the latest Mapsource dated last week from Garmin's site to try and fix the problem. I don't think the transfer route data check box should be greyed out, but still can't turn it on. I've e-mailed both Garmin tech support and the site I purchased the maps from, but have not received a reply from either as of today.
Still hoping someone can come up with a fix as I'm driving up to Auckland this weekend and voice guidance would be invaluable!
Strumble, could you please point me towards the method of "manipulating" Metroguide so it supports autorouting?
Thanks,
D. Hamments
I have seen comments regarding the use of basemap with Metroguide to get a "routing" of sorts, but is there a way to restore or add normal routing functionality to Metroguide NewZealand V2?
I would appreciate assistance from anyone on this forum.
The mapset data must be specifically compiled to support autorouting. Using the basemap to route is of little or no use, and may actually be worse than just reading the road signs and checking the map. You need new maps made for autorouting. I haven't a clue what is available for New Zealand. Sorry.
