Red face Sandisk Extreme III 2GB card

I posted this on the Brighthand forum as well.

the Sandisk Extreme Card arrived today and I've had a chance to try it. To make my system work I had to name the new card the same name as the previous Sandisk Ultra II. I guess some software knows the data files are located on a particular named card. Aside from this minor glitch the card seems to be working. I cannot recommend it yet until I've had a chance to use it for a weeks or two. Here are the VFSmark results.

The VFSMark of the new card is significantly better than the old and subjectively there is an improvement as well. The main issue is whether the system is stable and to tell I have to use it for several days. I bought my card through Costco.com so if it fails I plan to return in. Also there is currently until end of month a 15$ mail in rebate.

I can't even get my 2G ultra II card to work? It gets a fatal error when trying to format it. Garmin says a slower card is needed, some of the ultra II's work and some don't. I hate wasting money

I've used a Ultra II card for some time now on two different iQue 3600 with no problems.

Can you try formatting with the special SD formatter:

I don't have anything to format it with except the IQ. I'll try to have a friend format it form and see if that works?

That's incredible. You don't have a PC or MAC? How can you put any third party software on your iQue? For that matter how do you access this forum? And card readers are under $15-$20.

Nope, no card reader on the computer, and I don't have a digital camera to format the card with. Yeah it makes me sound like a cave man but technology doesn't fascinate me. The Ique is just a GPS and the PC just lets me get on the web for research. They're just tools to me,.. not toys.

I'm a 50 year old teenager trying to stay young, all my toys involve exercise and sweating

I had afriend format the card in his camera and was able do ownload a sample map to it but there's still problems. After the hotsync it says, "cleaning up - please wait" then I get an error message saying " System backup failed (0x2a13)"

Any thoughts on this ?

I'm not sure this message has anything to do with your card unless you're using a backup program that backs up after a hotsync. Do you get this error message with the card out as well?

Thanks again,.. apparently backupman was on the IQ when I got it, and it needed to be copied to the new SD card?

I don't often admit it, but the internet can be useful some times Other times its a giant time sucking hole in the universe
