I just got a sturdy case, the Heavy Armor 3600 by Otter. The case is definately not pocket size. fits your hand like brick; but, it's rugged enough to take any where, any time.
Case is billed as crush-proof and water-proof. Its a tough world out there, nothing is crush-proof, but this could come close. The manufacturer does claim the case is NOT suitable for underwater use. They know best. The case has an impressive design, including an o-ring gasket. There is a clear front panel that swings out of the way so you can hit the buttons and use the touch screen. Best yet the IQue fits in the case with the GPS antenna open. The case doesn't seem to block the GPS signal.
I paid $90 + shipping fromwww.watertightcase.com
Not good for your pocket but great for the trail, bike, snowmobile. etc...
I'm still looking for good solid case for my pocket, like the Brando metal case I had for my Clie 760.
I don't know, if its the smallest. They sell a smaller, less formidable case the 2000. I chose the 3600 for several reasons. First, I wanted something to stand up to rough handling, humidity and rain while outdoors. Secondly, this case has an add-on module (I bought it, cost $40) which will allow wires, external antenna, 12 volt power adapter, and such, while maintaining the watertight integrity.
This is a case made to accomdate a wide range of PDAs. When the Ique its in the case there's plenty of room all around. With the antenna openned, the length looks like a prettty close fit.
If I find time. I'll try to get picture posted offf the weekend.
I'll like to hear about other case options.
Is the antennae able to pick the sat signals inside the case ? Is there a degradation in the form of slow lock to sats ?
I just noticed that my status has changed to "senior member"!!!! It feels good. But do I know enough to be a senior member ? No. It is because I have more time and more problems.

Ique's built-in antenna possitively picks up the GPS signals from inside the case. I just got the case yesterday and tried it out for my drive home, about 9 miles. the Ique inside the case with the antenna opnend (on) was on the passenger seat of my car for trip ((convertible top down). The satellite acquisition time seemed longer than I was accustomed to using the external antenna. Usely I see accuracies from 8-30 feet, on this trip using the built-in antenna from inside the case I noticed the accuracy ranged 16-60 feet. My route takes me through some GPS unfriendly terrain.
I expect that using any case will be a trade off of easy of access and additional weight and size agaisnt protection of the device. Like I said this case does feel like brick, not that heavy though. This my 4th GPS, some of the places I take them are just GPS dead zones, some for cell phones and most handheld radios, I'm accustomed to finding the high ground to find either get a GPS fix or use a radio. If I decide to use the IQUE for these treks, I'll protect it in the Heavy Armor 3600 Case.
Incidently, so far the Ique navigation software package is a major off-road disappointment. My first 2 generation Gamin handhelds did a much better job of land/water navigation. MY current pocket GPS , a Garmin Etrex Legend does much better for off road navigation.
I'm trilled to have the IQUE, I carry a PDA any way, having the GPS function for outside apoointments with road navigation/routing is great, but I hope Garmin will give us off road trekers at least a 'direct line" route to function, and a track back function.
I am definitely tempted to buy this case....but like Octoberfest explained, I too feel the Hiking/trekking options are very limited even for a person like me who doesn't too many hikes (and hasn't used any other Garmin GPS). But, I purchased th Mapsource US Topo and it is practically useless right now.
Have you tried running a Universal connector charging cable out of the Armor 3600, with just the wire connectivity module? I'm wondering if there is enough space in the case to do this, without having to get the pod extender module.
Actually, is it possible to pop out the bottom of the Otterbox and have wires coming out, though its no longer waterproof? I really need the Otterbox more for crushproofness than waterproofing....

Thanks!
As to your second question, the bottom is removable. The bottom (or top) is intended to be removable, and replaceable by the user. The wire module attaches to the 3600 in void remaing after the bottom is removed. Of course, leaving out the bottom peice leaves an entry place for water, sand moisture, etc... but you knew that already.
The answer to your first question is: "It depends."
I tried to weave the palm UPC through the wire module. So far, no go. There is plastic construction of the wire module that prevents my UPC, the garmin Travel cable through the wire module. The only example of a Palm UPC I have is the garmin travel USB connector. The molded UPC plug didn't fit through the wire module. Interesting there seems to be enough room within the UPC for the iQue to "house the UPC, but not enough to pass the plug end through it.
Good news about the wire module is the external antena wire and plug , and the ear phone plug all pass through the wire module into the case.
Thanks for the reply! Let me just try to understand you better, you have to thread the actual connector plug through the membrane? I thought it was in two pieces, so you can split and bring back together the membrane around the cable. Is that not true?
