shrinkwrap disclaimer

No such option, but if you wait ~ 5 secs. it goes away on it's own, so no need to punch it with the stylis

escape lawyer screen

Push the Esc button or the map button briefly, then the lawyer screen will disappear. When I start the iQue with an antenna connected, I simply tap map twice. You won't even have the time to see the lawyer text.

This should be on the ique FAQ that we need

Simulated Route Crap

What I'd like to get rid of is that "Simulated Route" BS. Does anyone actually use it? It should be called "Demo Mode" and not come up automatically.

I have used the simulation, but only for short trips around the city to get an idea of where I need to take exit ramps and what streets to use. But since there is no way that I have found to change the simulation driving speed, it is senseless to do for trips longer than 5 or 10 minutes. It really needs to do the simulation in 1/4 the time it would actually take to drive, or fast forward to the turns along your route, which is what you're really interested in anyway.

These nag screens don't bother me much, it's just a simple tap or two. What bugs me is the electronic acrobats you have to go through to change something simple, like a waypoint icon, or the lat/long...then you always end up back in the address book and not back to your map screen. But I still love my iQue!

I'd rather just do the routing at normal speed and then go to the turn by turn screen. I think they put it in for salespeople to demonstrate the product.

Think so too. And I've seen people in the shop where I bought my iQue watching the slow progress of the cursor on a 2610 doing the same thing. People just skip watching after 10 seconds. Too booringHELLOGARMIN

Well said, most Inquisitive of Felines.

That's precisely what it's there fore, therefore it should be optional once the iQue has been sold. It offers nothing useful whatever. Like Jonas has mentioned, it is too slow to be interesting, so ultimately, it is neither useful or ornamental.

Come on Garmin, dump this useless prompt or at least let us hide it.

ha! that's good!

I plan on editing my screen once I get mine back (6 days iQueless now )

If we can't get rid of it might as well make it funny.

I use it often to show people my iQue 3600. It is indeed a "picture that's worth a thousand words". It gives them a much better idea of what the unit can do, and usually ends with -- "Oh, I had no idea! I really could use one of those!"

hello guys,

is it difficult to change the text of the warning screen, like rwsmith did?
or do you have to be a programmer?

Chris

Chris, it's not too difficult. It's inside the r3 Updater.pdb file that gets hotsynced to the iQue during the upgrade. The specific hex locations are 39871c through 39881f and the existing message is 260 bytes. You can change that to whatever you want. Replace trailing characters with spaces.

Edit the file at your own risk. Screw up the locations that follow it or edit the wrong locations and you might render your iQue totally foobarred.

As soon as I've updated mine, a screenshot will follow. All I need is an appropriate subject. mmmmmm.
