New View+ version is out...

1. For now, one of the most important things in View+ is Note+.
It's a file manager, which is powerfull and easy to use, with some unique features.
And it acts as the interface to all other View+ subsystems.
The last View+ version (1.04) has some additions to Note+ which are UID filtering, filters using multiple wildcards, butch operations

with notes for ZIPed files, improved bookmarks handling, Task Manager and much more.

2. Here is just one little demo showing the level of (modules) integration in View+:

1) Goto Note+.
2) Put cursor on a file or folder.
3) Bring Browser+ with Ctrl+Sh+W (Note+ file is selected in B+).
4) Press Ctrl+E to "Edit note" and add/change note.
5) At the same time, watch the bottom of the screen - Note+ "note" area :- > )

Hi Leo,

Excellent software - please pass my compliments on to Edo.

One slight problem. The clipbit.opx used by View+ appears to be incompatible with the one used by PelicanSoft's Notepad. I.e. you have to swap them around to use each application. Of course, Notepad is discontinued software - but then a lot of EPOC software is.

Any suggestions?

Best regards,
Martin

Hi Martin!

This is a known problem.
It was not a good idea from EMCC to set different UIDs for different OPX versions.
To solve the issue, View+ to be used ;-))
You must change (with HexEditor) the sequence A6 02 00 10 to the 18 51 00 10 within the application in question (and, in case of Notepad, in it's .opo files too).
Easy to do! ;-))

BTW, actually there is not many programs using the old ClipBit & ClipText...

Good workaround Leo - thanks!

I can confirm that this works so if anyone wants the already patched files, please just drop me a line and I'll email them to you.

Cheers,
Martin

That's not from my own - this problem arose previously with programs other then View+ and have been discussed at MyPsion.

For anyone who can't read Russian, I have attached a machine-translated version of ViewPlus's home page. Not that it makes a whole lot of sense, but you can have fun trying! :-)

I used Leo's word translations to correct the HTML file, and it now makes much more sense! I have attached it.

Someone else may like to reword it into proper English sentences though...

New version again...
It's 1.07 now!
A lot of minor improvements, and a total new feature - introducing the DUPES subsystem in Find+.
It allows to search (and to generate reports) concerning all kinds of duplicate files on all drives.
Can search matching file extensions, size and date/time in any combination.
Works in seconds, of course...

BTW, the file with Note+ hotkeys summary works in View+ version 1.06 and later!
Not suitable for earlier versions...

Addendum: "Dupes", besides searching duplicate files, can search folders (unique on Epoc) as well, with all given criteria and of course combined with other Find+ conditions

Thanks for the new years gift. So good to see such programs being developed, much appreciated.

On my wish list while we are on the subject of dream developments is the continuation of development of application like PHONEMAN from zenobyte with full diary managment and MMS as well as SMS, ability to access memory cards (MMC) in phone etc.. No harm in asking :-)

Please be aware of new improvements and feautures in the upcoming View+ v. 1.15 (scheduled to be available for download tomorrow).
Full support of GIF&JPEG image files is implemented, including GIF and JPEG conversion.
GIF files can be opened (converted to MBM) and images (bitmaps) could be saved to GIF (or non-GIF) files.
The image quality is none the worse then of MBMView.
Inserting (appending, inserting, replacing) JPEGs&GIFs into MBM files is available.
NB - first time on EPOC (afaik) - direct viewing/editing/saving
JPEGs&GIFs !
You can open/view JPEG or GIF, work on it like on any MBM bitmap, and "Save file" into native format or "Save as" after editing is finished (on closing file).

Enjoy!

Thumbs up thumbs up for View+

I'm only using an old version of View+ (have downloaded but not installed recent versions), but now that I've tried View+ a little, I have to say that it is ace!

Neuon's Hex Editor keeps crashing, when I want to view some files, but View+ does it seamlessly.

The Email search facility fills a gaping hole in Email.

I'm not sure how useful it is, but it's quite cute to be able to draw directly on any View+ screen (using the SketchPad option)... Somewhat similar to a certain Tablet PC feature that Microsoft like to brag about!

And there's simply tons of other stuff that I'll no-doubt find a use for in time :-)

Unhappy View+ on the Emulator

View+ almost works very well on the Emulator, but it assumes a 640x480 display in a few places, as can be seen in the attached screenshot.

It should be trivial for the author to fix this, if he was kind enough to look into the problem... And who knows, it might even work better on smaller Psions too, even if they aren't officially supported.
