Thanks very much for the reassurance, Lewis. Fortunately the repair I need for my Series 7 isn't urgent; I bought a 7Book on ebay, and that has taken over from the Series 7 as my "main" machine (I use it for taking minutes at various meetings for which I'm secretary, amongst other things); I also have a 5mx which I take away with me to record expenses and hours... I'll just have to possess my soul in patience until Costas' workload falls a bit...
Having sent a gentle reminder to Costas a few days ago, and still heard nothing from him, I thought I ought to see whether there is anyone else that people could recommend to get my Series 7 fixed; the problem is, I'm pretty sure, the screen flex cable needs replacing. The price asked by POS to do a "standard repair" on a Series 7 is very steep - the wrong side of £130 - so rather than pay that much I may as well scrap the machine and look to sell the RAM module and Netbook personality module I've got sitting in the drawer.
As ever, any pointers to a good repair service would be gratefully received.
I'm very happy to report that Costas *is* still active - I heard from him on Friday morning (13 April), shipped my machine to him that afternoon, it arrived the next day, Costas rang me and we discussed the diagnosis, and the same evening I picked up an email to tell me that Costas had fixed the machine - super service!
I'd be very happy to add to the list of testimonials for Costas - if you live in the UK and have a Psion which needs mending, get in touch with him. If you live *outside* the UK, you would need to think carefully about the cost of shipping and the need to exchange from your local currency into sterling to pay...
