One morning when I turn on my Dell Axim X5, the alignment screen showed up. I have no idea why this happened
I keep on tapping the screen, but still didn't change anything. It keeps coming back to the same place with no ending. I did the hard reset but nothing happens. Do you have any suggestion that I can do or some recommendations? Any help will be highly appreciated.
I already removed the screen protector but nothing happens. I also inserted a calling card to clean the sides of the screen, but it's still the same. Is there anything else that I have to do? and maybe I can bypass the alignment screen?
You can try installing Remote Display Control on the desktop http://www.microsoft.com/technet/pro...s/ppctoys.mspx
then activesync the axim and see if you can align the screen through desktop. You may be able to get out of screen alignment loop. But if the screen is actually damaged and you can't accurately use the stylus then the only real solution is to replace the screen.
I already installed the remote display. But the only thing that i cannot touch is the pocket pc. In order for you to have access with the pocket pc, you have to go to start of the pocket pc and then click cerdisp. I have no idea how to go in, because of the align screen that shows when you turn on the pocket pc. Is there a way that i can control using the desktop for me to click the cerdisp in the pocket pc? I hope there is.
After you activesync the axim, click Explore on desktop's activesync and create shortcut for the file you want to run and move that shortcut to Windows\StartUp folder on the axim, then soft-reset and activesync again. Hopefully that can work.
I did all the recommedations. It went to the startup but there is a problem, the remider shows up and it freezes. Is there a way to turn of the reminder message? I am still hoping that i can still fix this. I think I am getting there, maybe this is it. Hope to hear form you again.
This is an old thread, but since I'm experiencing similar problems I thought it reasonable to post here.
I've gotten past the set-up / align screens by removing the welcome short-cut from the Windows / Startup folder. The problem appears to be a hardware problem ... the touch screen is unresponsive.
Anyone out there with hardware knowledge. My guess ... given the history of this unit ... is that something is loose.
I've found posts around here and there from people with the same problem ... after replacing the back-up battery for example ... the touch screen doesn't respond after they put it back together. The only suggestion I found was to go in and tape up some wires to assure they weren't causing a short.
Here's the solution I found: These things are designed to be small and narrow ... stuff is close together. The back snaps on and doesn't really need screws to stay on. If you screw the screws in too tightly when you put it back together, it deforms the cover and puts pressure on the stuff inside; around the edges especially.
The solution is: don't tighten the screws too tightly. Your Pocket PC isn't piece of furniture held together with nuts and bolts; it's a sensitive electonic device. Take it easy.
If you are putting one back together -- try testing first without replacing the screws. If it works then, but stops working after you replace the screws .... this fix should work ... just loosen the screws a bit until it starts working again.
