Guys, I posted about two GPS10 units in another thread.
Although I purchased two deluxe units (one for me and one for a friend), when I got them I only opened one box initially, I spent several hours loading the Que app, playing with it, unlocking detailed map sets, working out the BT stuff etc.
Once I was happy with it I opened the second GPS10 box, and just out of interest decided to switch it on and pair it to the iPaq.
I could not believe it when I opened the Que app and all the detailed maps (from the first unit) worked perfectly, I even went for a walk to test if it actually tracked my movement, it worked exactly as the first unit did.
I also installed the Que apps onto a second iPaq4700, no problems at all, and I used the first set of software I opened, the second unit still has all its software pack sealed up.
I don't recall seeing any licensing restrictions on installing the Que software on more than one PDA, please correct me if I’m wrong about that, I wouldn’t like to break any software licence agreements.
Also, you can load all of the Que application and any of the world base maps without any registration or unlock codes, and you can do this on multiple PDA's and they all work with either GPS10 unit. So even if Garmin change the behaviour of the detailed map sets in a later software release I think you will always be able to route with a base map and any GPS10 you can pair to. (I have not checked the detailed maps working with either GPS10 since the 2.70 release; I will try it and let you know what happens)
What this means for me is I can order an OEM unit and permanently install it in our second car, and then use either without taking the GPS10 in and out.
I had always planned this, but I thought I would have to use my second unlock code and a second map set stored on an SD card, then swap cards over depending on which car I was driving. So far I am very happy with how Garmin have arranged everything
P.S.
TVNAV.COM have OEM units for sale, they are around US$70 cheaper than the deluxe units, not a huge reduction if you consider the price of stand alone CSNA maps, but if you don't need a second map set it’s a bit of a saving.
