Great - but don't expect too much
I picked this phone up for 100 buckson ebay. My pockets were getting full with a palm and my cell so idecided to merge the two for cheap ;-)

The R380w is a great phone its worked for me in London and all over Canada. GSM coverage here is much better than in the US, but it worked with no problems in LA and NY.

There is no speakerphone! no matter what they say i have no speaker phone in my r380 and it was listed as a feature on the website, it doens't exist on mine. Other than that small issue it worksgreat.

sync software works on my win2k desktop IR did work (but i prefer the cradle) won't sync to my laptop (try as i might) but neither did my Palm until i got a USB connection.

its a great cheap phone with great calendar features. I never use wap on it.

cheers
m

Excellent phone
This phone is a good one. I also have a 9110 that I couldn't get properly connected to the web, this one does it without a breeze (O2 wap access). Syncing with outlook XP on W2K works every time, and that's what I wanted. The whole package is very complete, all those accessories make it a very good deal for EUR 179 new...

not the perfect smartphone but a good one
i had a 9110 communicator for the last two yaers, but it became too big & bricky so i bought an accompli 008 which i had for only a week - i couldnt stand the bad motorola quality. finally i thought iŽll try the ericsson.
its a polarizing device cause some of the features are great, others are useless & some tipical smartphone features are simply missing.
i like the operating system & the professional look.
i hate the flip.

can't communicate with HPC
This phone sucks, I can't use it to communicate with my handheld pc unlike the r320. And ericsson doesn't have a software driver for windows ce2.

very good phone but!
When i bought r380 i bought it for connecting to internet and take the email from the account. The connecting with my email account and the downloading was very good according to 9600 bps modem. The sending of the email it was a little annoying because when i try to send 5 emails but i couldn't so i send 1 email each time. But also to this section the sending was very good. The wap browser was very good and i can see the pages very fast (9600 bps) and also the other tools were very useful. The only problem is the infrared port.I couldn't connect via IR with the computer but only with the cable(included) I think it's time to change the serial port of the phone and put a much more faster usb port.
I think r380 for its size and the tools that it has inside and also according the whole package it's very good.Looking forward the new model but please usb port instead of serial.
Very good voice command function and the stylus

Useful, simple, works just fine
I wanted a diary and phonebook integrated with a phone small enough to carry that synchronises easily with Lotus Organiser. The R380 does that really well. Synchronising was a synch - it worked first time. It does what it says on the box. And it was cheap!
