My Vista sync problem solved!
I just tried for hours to get a Royal Vista PDA to sync with a PC and nothing worked. On the internet I read that the bad ones are often missing a serial number and sure enough I didn't have one. The unit was made around 2001 and I was about to give up on it, when I noticed in the installation folder, there was an extra program called "wdbtools.exe" , so I clicked on it and up popped a message giving me the option to rebuild a database! So I did and suddenly it worked. Now this has nothing to do with the paper clip in the hole routine that resets the PDA. This is inside the PC software. The Vista software was installed off of a CD into windows 98 SE. So good luck!

Less than average.
Errors in the memo and to do list, pointing to the memo below the one for which the name was displayed, also the sound was poorly souldered but, I don't use it anyway. The keyboard wire is always in the way because it comes out the right of the keyboard and plugging to the left of the device. I can't get the sync software to work, correctly. The lack of carrage return in memos is an annoyance, and so is the limited memo size of 200 characters. Nice overall though. It cost me $19 on clearance, I see why. It's nice looking though.

It's junk
It ripped through the expensive button cell batteries in less than 2 weeks. The synchronization software is buggy and hard to deal with. I don't really see in any point of owning this device.

Go to their web site royal.com and download *.exe file. It will take care about synchro process. *.exe that comes on CD works like s... and I also spent 8 hours until I found upgrated exe.

No sync problems here!
I'm no genius, but I had no problems at all syncing the Vista with my PC. I installed the software, set Outlook as my PIM and hit the button. Voila! Instant transfer. I recommend this unit to anyone who needs a small PDA with basic features. Mine cost $49 and came with a keyboard, extra batteries and a leather case. My $400 Palm m500 didn't come with any extra items. For a quick reference for phone numbers and appointments you can't beat the Royal Vista. I keep it in my coat pocket and leave my Palm for business trips.

Would be great?if it synced!
Life was fairly OK with this little fellow until I tried to sync it up with my PC. Spent 8 hours on it, reloaded addresses, exported this imported that, fussed, fudged and fiddled until I was furious. Tech support could be better; if you get a hold of them they frequently come across as harassed and annoyed. I can understand why! If there's too many callers at CompanionLink (they make the software), the system just tells you to call back later or go thru web support (yeah, right). The software looks like it has been around for a while, and may just need to be re-designed for WIN98 and higher. Bottom line: If you don't need to sync it up, fine, if you do, it's H*** on Earth.
