Great Phone
I didn't even want the PDA/Phone but got it as a present. Now practically my whole life is on the phone. I can't live w/out it. But I'm confused, some opinions mentioned "viewing pictures and full color web pages", not my phone...Also the "missed, incoming, and outgoing" is glitchy.

Great Phone

Good, almost great but changes can be made
This is my second SmartPhone, my first was the Kyocer 6035 and overall,I love them. Nothing is better than your PDA and phone all in one. The speakerphone is probably the worst thing about the phone, it cuts in and out and does not save your volume level. Locating a number while busy or driving is virtually impossible, but there is a 9.95 download called TakePhone that makes it better. Overall I love it, I love it, I love it.

One Device, EXCELENT
As a whole I am a fan of this phone/PDA. For any techie or other person that is technology savy. However I would like to point out some of it's shortcomings. First off is the serial cradle. I went from a Visor to the Samsung. I am syncing AvantGo, an Access database and about 20 Word and Excel documents. On the USB cradle it was all over within 90 seconds. With the cradle I am averaging 4 to 5 minutes depending on how many changes. On generation 2 lets see a USB cradle.
I am a Palm user first and a cell phone second, I think the samsung I300 is a phone first and a PDA second. I would like to see a bigger screen and better speed on the application side.
Button placement could be better as well.
With all this said I am still happy that I purchased this. Having all information in one place has simplified my daily work a great deal.
I would recomend this with one warning, be ready to spend some time getting used to it.

after 6 months I still like this phone
I was one of the first people to get a Samsung I300 because we got them through their corporate sales department slightly before they were available to the general public. I used to used a Palm VIIx and a Nokia 6100. This device blends both of those into 1 package that is smaller. Is it perfect? NO. Is it very good? YES.

As a phone it is a good phone, not the very best, and it does lack some ease of use. I'd like menus and buttons that are more "finger friendly" instead of being designed strictly for use by a stylus. I can navigate most menus with my finger, but larger buttons would be easier to use. As a Palm it is just like every other Palm I've used over the last few years. The color screen is nice, not great, but certainly very good, and it does wash out in sunlight making it nearly impossible to read, just like several other PDA's color screens!

Much of the complaints about the phone I've read in the other postings are simply wrong; many posted by people who have not owned the phone for very long and consequently don't know how to use all the features. Pictures are available, the screen is not needed in sunlight to operate the phone if you set up the 500 voice dial numbers available (who even 500 voice command phone numbers?).

Basically it is not perfect, but it is still the best compramise phone/pda available to date.

Great device but takes some setting up
I LOOOOOOVE the phone but out-of-the-box, it's basically a PALM and phone in one device. After some setting-up and downloading, I've really got it humming. Until I downloaded the FREE Eudora Mail and Internet Suite software, I could only read new e-mails after syncing. But now I can send and receive throught the pop3 server of my ISP and it's just a short cell call. The broswers included are good but I have a third in there to fully realize the web-browsing power of the phone.
It's also easy to mess up your wireless settings if you carelessly tap around. Be careful and write down things so you can undo them later if you need to. But with a little extra work and some clever software installs, the phone is a great communication/organization tool that has made all my friends jealous.

Needs Refining
This is the first generation of this type device. Missed opportunity. We still don't have a phone we cam program from our computer. I really thought this was it but I can only download data(sync) and then with very limited and cumberson capability. I can't program the phone without using the stylus and delicately and painstakingly working through tiny menus. Also screen is impossible to read in daylight. Many features easily available on std phones like mute are hidden in menus that are a pain to get to. This phone is less than ver. 1.0, more like a beta version. I say wait for the debugged model. Also it is too expenseive for the functionality.

problems and wishes
I just bought the sph-I300 two days ago and so far it is a pretty good phone. the only real problem is that when I am using the speaker phone, it just cuts off and all i hear is a static noise. I end up having to shut off the speaker part and talk normal.
i also think there should be a way to download different ring types. Is there? please help
