All the items of the user account mailbox including the emails are stored in the PST files. PST files are the centralized database of MS Outlook located at C:Documents and SettingsUser_idLocal SettingsApplication DataMicrosoftOutlookOutlook.pst. PST files are susceptible to corruption and the major causes of this the size limitation issue. If the PST file size exceeds 2 Gb (10 Gb for Outlook 2007 and 2010), corruption takes place and the emails stored in them become inaccessible.
